Vincent Van Gogh, (which - that - who) was born in Holland in 1853, is one of the most famous painters.
Altough his talent was recognized throughout (his - its - it's) life, it was much appreciated after his death.
After he had (achieved - failed - succeeded) in every career he had attempted, Van Gogh first turned to art to express his strong religious feelings.
After he had decided to (become - belong - remain) a painter in about 1880, he started to paint studies of peasants and miners.
During the (previous - next - earlier) few years, called the Dutch period, he produced paintings with rather dark greenish-browncolours.
In 1886, when he went to Paris to visit his brother Theo, he was immediately attracted to the Impressionist work he saw (here - within - there).
He decided to stay in Paris and continued his painting there. He was encouraged (from - by - over) Pissarro to use more colour in his pictures and his subsequent paintings were (dark - bright - gloomy) and immensely colourful.
After Van Gogh had moved (in - to - on) Arles, in the South of France in 1888, he worked frenetically. In this period, interrupted by moments of deep depression, he produced the majority of his (most - much - least) famous paintings.
One of these, (whom - which - who) is called Self protrait with bandaged ear, shows Van Gogh: he was wearing a bandage after he had cut off his own ear.
A year (before - earlier - later) in 1890, he committed suicide.
A (few - lot - piece) is known about Van Gogh's life and his feelings, because of the hundreds of letters written to his brother Theo and others.

Parrots

Parrots live in the forests of South America, where summer lasts all the year round, where leaves are always green. The parrots make their homes in the forest, because there they can find shade in the heat of the day.
Parrots eat fruit and nuts. They like wild cherries best of all. They like them because of the stones. The beak of the parrot is very sharp and it cracks these stones easily.
Parrots like to bathe very much. They fly about till they find water. They dip into the water and splash it over their feathers. Then they sit in the sun till they are dry. In the middle of the day the heat becomes very great. Then parrots fly in the deepest shade. They sit in the trees and sleep. But in the evening, when the sun is going down, they wake up. They eat fruit, go to the water and bathe again. Only after that they go to the rest for the night.
People can tame parrots. The parrot is a very interesting pet, because it can talk.
